Knowledge: Students will be able to: 1.1.Vocabulary - identify lexical items related to natural disasters, such as: tornado, landslide, earthquake, volcanic eruption. - Pronounce those items correctly, and understand their meaning in context. - work out the tasks related to vocabularies 1.2. Grammar: - understand the meaning of the past continuous and its common context 2. Competences - Develop ss’ observation, skimming and scanning, listening for gists, and teamwork 3. Quality - enhance ss’ cooperation and teamwork - light up ss’ love of nature and people B. TEACHING AIDS 1. Students: 2. Teachers: C. TEACHING PROCEDURES 1. Warm up: Guess the topic (5’) First, stabilize and organize the class, call the class 8B as Booster, divide the class into two groups, peace and safe T has ss listen to a part of a report to speak out the topic SS listen carefully for gist and speak out the topic Keys: NATURAL DISASTERS T presents titles of the unit 2. New lesson:

T sets time, about 1 minute to work out and compare answer with partners After 1 minute, have ss present on the board Listen to check, and then practice pronouncing those orally and individually, have ss join a mini game to checks ss’ pronunciation Finally, T displays ss’ output to illustrate that they understand the words, and to support them to do following tasks b. Activity 2: Ex 4 P.93 Choose the correct option to complete each sentence. (9’) * Objective To deep ss’ understanding about each disaster, develop their listening for general ideas * Content 1. Tom: Yes, we sometimes have tornadoes. Mi: Tornadoes? Sounds strange. What's a tornado? Tom: It’s a violent storm that moves in a circle with very strong winds. I still remember the tornado we had last year. Mi: What happened? Tom: One evening my parents and I were having dinner. Suddenly, we heard a very loud noise. When we looked out of the window, we saw a big funnel of wind moving towards us. * Output Ss’ speaking performance with right pronunciation and intonation. * Process First, set the scene, lead ss in the conversation, by stimulating them to get the disaster appearing in the dialogue Have ss listen to the recording, pay their attention to core vocabularies Call two ss to role play the D, remind the others to listen carefully and give assessment on pronunciation and intonation T gives feedback on their performance and give them scores Sum up, arouse a question : What would you do to help Mi’s parents if you were here at that time?
